Under the agreement, Samsung will be one of the first manufacturers to use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 895 processor. The Galaxy S22 series will be the first Samsung model to be equipped with this chip. More details are now being announced about Samsung's annual flagship smartphones.
A reporter nicknamed Ice Universe claims in a report that the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra smartphone will not use a 200-megapixel camera sensor. Instead, the flagship will be equipped with the third generation of 108-megapixel sensors.
Samsung used the HM3 sensor in the Galaxy S21 Ultra smartphone . This sensor is equipped with Super PD Plus fuzzy focus capability and uses a microlens at the top of the fuzzy focus point. This results in a 50% increase in focus speed. According to reports, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra will continue to use the HM3 sensor. However, the handset will be equipped with a new video signal processor (ISP) and an optimized software algorithm.
It is worth mentioning that some rumors indicate that Samsung and Olympus have cooperated in developing the Galaxy S22 series camera. The company Huawei for a long time with the brand Leica has worked. The Chinese manufacturer has long been ranked number one in the DxOMark website's camera performance rankings . OnePlus has also partnered with the Hasselblad brand to develop the OnePlus 9 series smartphone camera. So Olympus is likely to work with Samsung to improve the imaging quality of the Galaxy S22 series.
The standard model of the Samsung Galaxy S22 will come with a 6.06- to 6.1-inch display. However, the Galaxy S22 Plus comes with a 6.5- to 6.6-inch panel, and finally the flagship Galaxy S22 Ultra comes with a 6.8-inch panel. Thus, the screen size of the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 Plus handsets will be slightly reduced compared to the current generation Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Plus models. However, the screen size of the Galaxy S22 Ultra will not change compared to its predecessor. In addition, recent reports indicate that the Galaxy S22 Ultra will feature an old panel with LTPO technology.
The current Galaxy S21 Ultra handset comes with an Infinity-O display with a resolution of 3200 × 1440 pixels. The display is HDR10 + certified and supports adaptive refresh rates in the range of 10 to 120 Hz. However, the Galaxy S22 series is expected to take advantage of lower refresh rates, which will help reduce battery consumption.
Examining the leaked information, it can be seen that the above are only part of the main specifications of the Galaxy S22 series. So many other details are still shrouded in mystery. Regarding the camera technology under the screen, it should be noted that the conditions for the implementation of this idea are not yet available for Samsung and the technology will not be used in the Galaxy S22 series.
Following the release of the Samsung Galaxy S21 series, the hypothesis that the 3D TOF sensor will not be used by the company has been officially confirmed. Samsung has paid special attention to this sensor and has used it in many of its flagships such as Galaxy S10 5G and Galaxy S20 Ultra . According to the available information, the handsets of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series will also lack a 3D TOF sensor.
