Employees complain about Apple's hybrid work model: If there is no flexibility, we will resign

Apple employees claim that the company does not show any flexibility in its design for the hybrid work model and does not agree to employees' requests for telecommuting. Now a number of them have threatened to resign if Apple does not back down.

About 10 Apple employees have announced on a channel in the Slack service that they have resigned from their jobs because of the combined work model or know other people who have been forced to leave their jobs because of this. This Slack channel now has more than 6,000 employees.

In Apple's hybrid work model, employees must return to work and be physically present in offices to revive the company's culture. According to Apple, employees must be at work 3 days a week and can telework the remaining 2 days if desired.

However, many employees opposed the plan, and a survey found that being able to work in a flexible environment was important for 90% of them. A flexible work environment means being able to work remotely whenever they want.

Employees claim that Apple is now tightening restrictions and not even allowing employees who were allowed to work from within ohki before the epidemic. One of the employees, who used to work from home under US law for the disabled, says his telecommuting application was rejected. He says he will be out of work on this account in September.

Apple has told some employees that they can telecommute by providing medical records of their health, but some employees are reluctant to share their medical records with Apple and have stated that they will never do so.

Employees are now looking for appropriate ways to react to Apple's decisions, and will likely continue to protest by sending another letter to executives or taking legal action.
