Aston Martin Valhalla supercar was unveiled with a 937 hp hybrid

 


Aston Martin Valahala, the son behind the flagship Aston Martin Valkyrie with 208 plug-in hybrid powertrains and suspension inspired by Formula 1 cars, will be on the company's product line from 2023.



Aston Martin Valhalla will go to war with its main rival, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale, with a stunning design. Although in the powertrain section, the Aston Martin Valhalla uses the Mercedes AMG engine, in the chassis and suspension section, it is entirely designed by Aston Martin engineers.


This is Aston Martin's first new product under its new CEO, Tobias Morse, former CEO of Mercedes-Benz AMG. Aston Martin is set to unveil more than 10 brand new models by 2024. The most important models are the three mid-engined supercars in different price ranges, which include the same Valhalla model, the cheaper Vanquish model, and the company's flagship product, the Valkyrie.

Aston Martin's new Formula 1 team has made the biggest impact on Valhalla.

Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll bought the Racing Point team in Formula 1 and officially named Aston Martin separately from the Red Bull team.



The unveiling also took place on the occasion of the return of the Aston Martin Formula 1 team after 61 years away from the English Grand Prix.



Previously, the Aston Martin Valhalla was supposed to be powered by a V6 engine equipped with two turbochargers, designed and built entirely by Aston Martin itself. But with the change of management and ownership of Aston Martin, the project was completely abandoned and Aston Martin was even forced to retire its twin-turbo V12 engine.

As a result, Stone has used the 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine made by Mercedes AMG in both Valhalla and DB11 models. This engine is capable of producing 740 horsepower at a maximum engine speed of 7200 rpm. This power is sent to the rear wheels by an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

This engine has many similarities with the model used in the Mercedes AMG GT Black Series. For example, this engine uses a flat crankshaft. The exhaust system is specially designed and its two outlets, like the Porsche 918 Spider, are located at the top of the engine. It is also possible to adjust the volume of the engine by using a flap.



In addition to the internal combustion engine, this model uses two other electric motors, each located on two front and rear axles. In total, these two engines produce 201 horsepower and reach a maximum output power of 937 horsepower, which is about 49 horsepower less than the main competitor of this Aston Martin, Ferrari SF90 Stradale.

It takes just 2.5 seconds to reach 100 km / h, and its top speed is 350 km / h. Aston Martin is aiming to record a time of 6 minutes and 30 seconds at the Nurburgring in Germany. Like the SF90, the Valhala uses only the front electric motor to drive the car in all-electric mode. In normal driving mode, however, the power generated is clearly divided between all four wheels. There is also no reverse gear in the gearbox and the electric motor takes over the task of reversing the car with a reverse rotation.

The gearbox is coupled to an electric slip limiting differential to enable power transmission in the most optimal condition available. In such a way that the gearbox provides the possibility of changing 2 gears at a time for the electric motor and internal combustion.

Aston Martin has used a full carbon fiber tube chassis to reduce weight as much as possible. The goal of the engineers was to increase the dry weight of Valhalla to 1550 kg, which is a flagship in its class. Using Venturi ducts in the underside of the car and active splitter and rear wing, Valhala is capable of producing a downward force of 600 kg at a maximum speed of 240 km / h.

The front suspension is of the "push" type and the rear is a multiple connection called a multi-link. This suspension system uses internal springs and shock absorbers to reduce the mass of the non-spring. The ability to change the height is also provided for it.

The body of this Aston Martin is designed in such a way that it no longer needs additional air inlet and outlet like the Valkyrie model. As a result, the design of the Valhalla body can be considered simpler and more elegant than the concept model that was unveiled two years ago.

The only components that are similar to the Valhala concept model are the roof air intake scope, the bat doors, and the one-piece rear wing.

But in the front, rear and rear view, a new design has been used to be similar to other Aston Martin models.

The windshield is equipped with the classic horizontal lines of Aston Martin products, larger round LED lights, shorter rear diffuser, designed air intake on the side of the body with more angle and the addition of side mirrors are the most important changes compared to the concept model.

Pictures of the interior design of the room have not been released yet, but Aston Martin has announced that he has used a new design language inside the room, which has more space than the Valkyrie model. Inside the room, an infotainment system equipped with a touch screen with the ability to support Apple CarPlay and Android Otto is used. Rear view camera, dual-zone air conditioning and advanced driver assistance systems are other equipment of this model.

The final price of this model is not known at the moment, but it is expected that it will easily have a price tag of $ 1 million, and in this regard, it is more expensive than its main rival, the Ferrari SF90 Stradale .
