According to recent reports, Xiaomi is working on the release event of its latest UI version, called MIUI 13. However, the company still has many devices to update to the MIUI 12.5 UI. Today, the list is getting smaller, thanks to the addition of the Redmi Note 8 Pro and Poco F2 Pro.
The Redmi Note 8 Pro was released in 2019, initially with Android 9 (Pie) and MIUI 10 user interface. Now, this device has MIUI 12 user interface based on Android 11 operating system. On the other hand, Poco F2 Pro was released last year with MIUI 11 based on Android 10.
The Redmi Note 8 Pro was a special product. After years of adhering to Snapdragon chipsets, this was the first device to ship with the MediaTek chipset. This smartphone used the Helio G90T chipset for the first time, which has been one of the most successful MediaTek chipsets to date. After initial uncertainty, the device captured the hearts of many users and even developers around the world. This device is one of the most successful Redmi Note smartphones to date, which uses the MediaTek chipset.
This device has received Android 10 and Android 11 updates, which makes it one of the smartphones equipped with MediaTek, with the best software support. It is not expected that this smartphone will receive the Android 12 update, but it can be eligible for the MIUI 13 update.
Today, Redmi Note 8 Pro is receiving MIUI 12.5 update with build number V12.5.1.0.RGGCNXM. This update is currently available in China, but users in other countries may receive the update soon.
The Poco F2 Pro was a controversial product at the time of its launch. It replaced the Poco F1 smartphone, but instead of an attractive and original device, it was a remake of the Redmi K30 Pro smartphone. The phone was equipped with the Snapdragon 865 chipset, but with its 60Hz display, it could not impress users. However, this smartphone has a large number of users around the world.
The Redmi K30 Pro received the MIUI 12.5 update in May. So the Poko F2 Pro update is not so surprising right now. It is worth noting that this update is currently only available in Europe under version number V12.5.1.0.RJKEUXM and will likely cover other countries and regions in the coming weeks.
Unlike the Redmi Note 8 Pro, the smartphone was launched with Android 10-based MIUI 11 and received MIUI 12 as well as Android 11 a few months after its release. Given that the Poco F2 Pro is considered a flagship phone, it will surely get MIUI 13 and Android 12 as soon as it is released.
