It seems that Sony has finally decided to stop producing DSLR cameras. The Japanese company has removed the a99 II, a77 II and a68 cameras from its official website and these products will no longer be sold through Sony dealers.
Looking at the full list of Sony in the company's official website, as well as we realize there is no longer any of Mount A DSLR cameras in the Sony product list. It is not clear exactly when these products were removed from the Sony product line, only the information on the company's website indicates that they have been removed from the Sony product portfolio.
Sony does not usually publish much news about Mount A cameras. As a result, it is not uncommon for these products to be removed without any news being shared about them. The last time DSLR cameras were reported was in September of last year, when news broke about the autofocus performance of Mount A mirrorless cameras. Prior to this, in 2016, another news was shared about Mount A cameras.
The Sony a77 II was launched in 2014, and even at that time some believed that the company would soon make changes to the design and specifications of this product.
The Sony a68 camera was introduced in 2015 with 4D autofocus as the most popular feature of these products. The a99 II was Sony's latest DSLR, launched in 2016, and features a new 42.4-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor.
In 2015, there was news of Sony's decision to stop production of Mount A cameras. But this did not happen and a year later, in 2016, the a99 II was introduced.
But it seems that finally, by changing the company's strategies, low sales and some other factors, Sony has finally decided to consider the end point for the production of Mount A cameras.
