Deputy head of virtual reality and augmented Facebook, "Hugo Barra" in a post on Facebook, left the company announced.
In this post, Bara said that today will be the last day he works on Facebook:
"Today, 4 years after working on the projects, is my last day at Facebook Reality Labs. "During this time, I faced the most challenging and exciting cases in my career and met the kindest people."
Bara wants to work in the field of health technologies:
"I believe society still has access to few tools to monitor and control health status."
Bara has a long history in the world of technology. Bara worked for Google Android for several years and then worked for Xiaomi for several years . In 2017 he decided to join Facebook and virtual reality Oculus management team and took over . In 2019, Barra took over his current position, tasked with building a global partner for the New York-based virtual reality / augmented ecosystem that eventually became part of Facebook Reality Labs.
Hugo Barra is leaving the company before Facebook unveils its first commercial smart glasses. Late last year, Bara announced the introduction of this product in 2021, although he did not publish details.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg thanked Bara for his work at the company in a comment below the post:
"Thanks for what you did to help build the next generation of computing platform and the ecosystem around it. "I learned a lot while working with you and I'm excited to see what you build in the future."
We have to wait and see where the next stop for Hugo Barra is, whether he is moving to another giant technology company or whether he wants to work with a startup to shape the future.
