Backward compatibility is one of the features present on PS5. The technology will allow the reproduction of PS4 games in the next-gen. However, this will not apply to PS1, PS2, and PS3 games, as reported by Sony.
In an interview with Famitsu, SIE's executive director, Jim Ryan, stated that implementing compatibility with classics was not possible and explained:
We keep the specialized engineering for the PS5 in mind when we produced the device. In the midst of this, the PS4 already has 100 million players; we think they’d like to play PS4 titles on PS5 too, so we’ve included compatibility. While implementing this, we also focus our efforts on building the SSD and DualSense. So, unfortunately we were unable to bring such compatibility.
Previously, the Ubisoft support page had already delivered that the PlayStation 5 would not be backward compatible with PS1, PS2, and PS3. The doubt still hung in the minds of many fans, but now it is cleared up.

Speaking of backward compatibility, Sony unveiled the PlayStation Plus Collection last Wednesday (16). The program, which is part of PS Plus, will let subscribers access a beautiful diversity of PlayStation 4 titles at the PlayStation 5 premiere. God of War and Uncharted 4 are just a few.
