This past Monday Apple was receiving a class action lawsuit again because of the inferior Wi-Fi antennas on the iPhone XR . The company is accused of hiding the fact that its iPhone XR, released on 2018, mounts a set of 2 × 2 MIMO antennas while the iPhone XS and XS Max ride MIMO 4 × 4.
It is not the first time that the company has faced a lawsuit for this problem, about a month ago a similar case was filed by the same court of the northern district Of California. The new lawsuit, signed by 13 people, brings together a group of affected iPhone XR owners who accuses Apple of using inferior and defective technology that would have supposedly caused this model to have connectivity problems.
The demand basis
Among the problems caused by this alleged defect are missed calls, cuts in incoming and outgoing calls and slow download speeds as indicated by the testimony in Robert's lawsuit Altmann as reported by AppleInsider. He is one of those affected who indicates like the rest of his family that he does not have an iPhone XR but if with other models of the company they do not suffer all these problems, and he even alleges that his previous iPhone X worked better.

The demand is based on the fact that these problems are caused by the lower antenna scheme mounted by the iPhone XR , which uses two antennas instead of four as its premium model, the iPhone XS. The 2 × 2 MIMO technology that the XR has is much more capable than its predecessor that used only one antenna, but lags behind the 4 × 4 MIMO technology that uses four. The plaintiffs allege that Apple was aware of this and yet did not hesitate to produce and distribute this model without specifying to customers that there was a difference in this regard.
According to the lawsuit “ Apple knew or should have known that it was selling an inferior product, however it does not report this to customers, who expect the latest model to have the most modern technology ". This is supported by a set of reports that supposedly show that the iPhone XR performs inferiorly in this respect to the iPhone XS , even when the iPhone XS only uses 2 of its antennas , as reported by PC Magazine in November of 2018.
"Doubtful" practices
Whether these plaintiffs finally conclude their claim satisfactorily will be another matter. Although it is true that Apple does not highlight on its website that the iPhone XR mounts 2 × 2 MIMO technology, it does make it clear in the device's technical specification sheet , so really if you are being informed about this.
The lawsuit asks for non-specific damages compensation as well as the legal fees corresponding to the case. An order is also requested against Apple to stop it from using “ more misleading and infusive business practices “.
