In the last two weeks, several of the signings that Apple has made to face the next projects of its streaming platform, Apple TV +, have been announced. The most recent of them includes the famous person in the world of cinema and in the history of Apple, Ridley Scott , director behind the iconic Apple TV commercial “1984 ”.
The deal that reunites Apple with Ridley Scott has been made through the director's production company Free Productions, known for accumulating a large number of awards in its 25 years of existence. However, is not an exclusivity agreement , since the producer has developed some of the upcoming Disney + and HBO Max projects.
Ridley Scott meets Apple for new projects
The recently signed contract states that Scott will first work on new television shows and launch projects for Apple , which could then be released through Apple TV +, or through other projects in networks and transmission services.
Scott's portfolio includes blockbuster movies like Top Gun and The Martian, and series like Amazon’s Man in the High Castle, but Apple and Scott’s relationship actually dates back decades. Now, Apple TV + as the only major streaming service without a licensed catalog , is expected to increase its offering of titles on the service, to face the tough battle for this type of entertainment fought by Netflix, Disney +, Amazon, and to which new proposals are added every day.
Just yesterday, Apple closed a similar proposal with the producer of the writer Sofia Coppola, to develop a new Apple TV + program based on the novel by 1913 by Edith Wharton "Custom of the Country". This would be the first series of the also actress and producer and a great opportunity for Apple to continue sharing quality content from the best professionals in the industry.
