Last Wednesday (06), Naughty Dog and Sony released the new trailer for The Last of Us 2, giving the audience a little more taste of the game. The content, made available with the original dubbing and in PT-BR, is more brutal than the one released in September and brings details that may be important in the plot.
Attention: none of the details mentioned below have any connection with the spoilers disclosed in relation to The Last of Us Part II. All excerpts were removed from the trailer in question only.
Joel teaches Ellie to play the guitar
Early on we see that Joel taught Ellie to play the guitar. In the first The Last of Us, the pair passed by a bus station, when the protagonist of that game promised the girl that he would give them some instrumental lessons.
This is probably the single moment of the trailer that contains some affection and does not carry any tension.
Butterfly drawn on the neck of the guitar
Since the reveal trailer for The Last of Us 2, the butterfly tattoo on Ellie's arm generated numerous discussions in the community forums. Was the character hiding the popper's bite mark? Or is it just a symbol of transformation (as butterflies usually represent)?
While there are still no answers to these questions, the fact is that the same butterfly appears on the neck of the guitar from Joel. Perhaps Ellie's tattoo has to do with this drawing on the instrument.
Ellie's endless rage
Neil Druckmann, director of the title, has said on numerous occasions that history is a cycle of revenge and how it impacts the lives of people close to Ellie. He also stated that Naughty Dog sought to create emotions as close to reality as possible, so that the players themselves can feel it.
In previous trailers, the protagonist promises “Find and kill each one of them”, but it didn't go away. In the last revealed content, she shows all her fury and gets covered in blood at a certain moment. You can really feel how this anger is growing inside the character.

It has long been clear that Ellie and Joel's main enemies are not the poppers but the humans . Even so, monsters are an important part of The Last of Us 2 universe and hardly appear in the video. There is only one moment when Joel shoots an infected person in the head and another when what looks like a gate separates Ellie's horde.
It remains to be seen how they will be approached in the new game.
Dina?
Dina was presented as a of the main characters of the game, but it seems to have taken tea from the trailer. There is a moment where she appears lying (with her back to the camera) with Ellie, but that's all. What will be your role in the narrative? Fans speculate that she is largely responsible for making the protagonist seek revenge, but this has yet to be confirmed.
The Last of Us 2 will be released on the day 19 of June.
