Youtube has made updates on what it considers to be "harmful or dangerous content". The most notorious addition to this type of content are videos that "teach hacking or phishing ".
Google claims that it is already removing existing content of this type, and taking action against those who produce it. In addition to this type of content, Google has considered dangerous content as "extremely dangerous challenges", "violent events" or "eating disorders".
What kind of videos fall into this category
For those who do not know what are videos that teach hacking or phishing, Google identifies the problem in a very simple and understandable way. These "show the user how to circumvent the security of computer systems ( hacking ) or how to steal a user's credentials and personal data ( phishing )."
Although Google's action is understood, it will have to be sorted out between what is dangerous content and what may be considered educational content. There are hacking videos with an informational purpose, and they should not suffer from this new practice.
Youtube algorithm must be able to distinguish harmful hacking educational hacking
The truth is that it will all be on the algorithm side. That is, the algorithm must be able to distinguish what is really dangerous content, and what can be content made for genuinely positive purposes.
It is certain that Youtube does not want to be a site where you can learn about hacking. However, all those who really want to learn about security will suffer with the new measures if the platform does not know how to distinguish the content.
