SwiftKey continues to be one of today's most popular keyboards, for both Android and iOS. However, its beta version for Android just received a new feature that could 'crush' the competition. Microsoft is the first to offer the integration of 'Memojis' on a keyboard, called 'puppets'.
This implementation is very similar to the features offered by Apple, Huawei and Xiaomi. The big difference is that it will be available to all users who have SwiftKey installed.
When do Puppets arrive to all users?
The Microsoft team officially officiated today the arrival of the "Puppets" to the beta version of SwitfKey, not unraveling when it can be implemented in the stable version. Probably, everything will depend on the reaction of the users and the possible existence of some bugs.
Once your operation is guaranteed without any problem, we should see the new functionality arrive for all users. However, if you do not want to wait, just install the SwiftKey beta through the Google Play Store .
Although it has already been officialized today, the "Puppets" are being made available in a phased manner. So it may take a few days for all users to receive the new animated emoji. Unfortunately, I have not yet had the opportunity to personally test them.
How this new functionality works
Unlike the other "custom emoji" offerings, which use advanced 3D depth technology (ToF cameras), Puppets use intelligent facial recognition that does not require specific hardware.
As long as you are in a bright environment, any smartphone will be able to use this feature.
Through the analysis of millions of photographs, the neural network trained by the Microsoft team is able to recognize, in real time, various facial expressions.
Users will be able to open and close their mouth, smile, wink, among many other expressions, seeing everything be reflective in the animated "Puppet".
