Panasonic and Toshiba also decide to cut ties with Huawei

After Donald Trump issued a decree banning Huawei in the United States, several companies operating in the US market, such as Google, began to cut their ties with China. Now, it seems we have two more names that have decided to distance themselves from Huawei: the Japanese giants Toshiba and Panasonic.

Toshiba said on Thursday it had suspended sending electronics to China and is investigating whether it used parts or technologies originating in the US in its products sold to Huawei - which would constitute a violation of the US sanction.

Although the company does not report which of its products were being withdrawn from the negotiations, it is speculated that they are hard disks, semiconductors, and high-speed data processing system LSI. Toshiba said it did not expect a big impact on its earnings and also said it could resume shipping those parts to Huawei if it was found that it did not violate any ban.

Panasonic had also announced that it had suspended its business with the Chinese giant.

In a statement to the BBC, the company said it had internally notified that it should suspend transactions with Huawei and its 68 affiliates that were banned by the US government.

However, like compatriot Toshiba, Panasonic said that commercial operations that did not violate US regulations would continue to be traded normally with Huawei.
