How to find out the number of reload cycles on a MacBook

Most modern Apple laptops go through 1,000 recharge cycles before they need to replace the battery. Below we describe how to check the number of recharge cycles on your MacBook.

The Apple Support document tells how your MacBook calculates the number of cycles:
The recharge cycle ends when you fully charge the battery, but this does not always require a full discharge. For example, a day you can spend only half the charge, and then fully charge the laptop. The same can be done the next day, and it will be counted as one recharge cycle, not two. Sometimes it can take several days to complete a cycle.

How to find out the number of reload cycles on a MacBook

  1. Select the Apple icon in the menu bar.

  2. Now select About This Mac , and then  System Report .

  3. In the left menu, select  Power Options .mac

  4. The number of recharge cycles will be in the section Health  Information .

Under the number of cycles, you will also see the battery status. If recharge cycles are more than 1000, service is likely to be required, i.e. battery replacement.
