Less than a week after the Spotify denounced Apple for unfair practices in the App Store, Kaspersky Lab, which operates in the digital security industry, announced through a post on its official blog that it also denounced Apple for the Federal Antimonopoly Service from Russia. The lab accuses the Cupertino company of using its position as owner and supervisor of the app store to prevent other developers from acting on similar terms. In the case of Kaspersky, the main complaint lies in the iOS 12 screen time feature.
The security company argues that last year Apple had dropped its Kaspersky Safe Kids application, which altered the configuration profiles of iPhones to help parents monitor what their children were doing on smartphones. The reason for his app crash was due to App Store policy, which said that configuration profile changes were banned.
Kaspersky says that tailoring the application to be inserted on the Apple platform would mean "removing two key features of Kaspersky Safe Kids: application control and Safari browser locking." According to the company, these functions are essential for the proper functioning of the security service. In addition, the company also says that from the time your app was knocked down after the introduction of Screen Time on iOS 12 did not think removal was just a simple coincidence.
Considering that Screen Time is a native iOS 12 function, which allows users to monitor the time spent in front of the smartphone screen, Kaspersky says that Apple has basically introduced its own parental control method and is preventing other applications of the genre to be competitive in the App Store.
