Xiaomi includes new method of accessing Google Assistant in MIUI 10

The MIUI 10 has brought new forms of interaction to the Xiaomi smartphones. New methods based on Android Pie, but that have come to sacrifice some shortcuts already established in our daily lives. One of them was how to access Google Assistant.

Now, with MUIU 10.2.1, you can access Google Assistant through the power button on your smartphone. One way to circumvent one of the limitations of new gesture navigation, as reported by  XDA Developers.

Gesture navigation seems to be the future of Android smartphones. As a result, MIUI 10 brought this same possibility to Xiaomi equipment, however, with some drawbacks for Google Assistant users.

Now you can use your Xiaomi's power button to access Google Assistant

That is, so far this Artificial Intelligence was accessible through a long press on the home button of your Xiaomi. With the disappearance of this button this possibility also disappeared from your equipment.

To get around this scenario, you can now access Google Assistant with a half-second pressure on the power button on your smartphone. This option must be activated in the shortcut menu of your device.

However, this option may create some conflict in case you want to disconnect your smartphone. It is likely that users will have some difficulty in distinguishing the push-button time. At least in the early days.

Maybe a key combination might be a more comfortable option. However, this is what MIUI 10 users currently have at their disposal. Although it requires certain learning, it is better than not having any shortcut to the effect.
