The US government has filed lawsuits against Huawei and its chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou, accusing the Chinese maker of bank fraud and electronics, obstruction of justice and technology theft of T-Mobile operator.
Some of the charges were announced for the extradition of Meng from Canada, who was arrested last December at the request of the US government and later released on bail. She is currently staying with family members in Vancouver pending a decision by a Canadian court over her extradition to the United States.
According to the US authorities, Meng used Hong Kong's Skycom to broker Middle Eastern relations for business in Iran, and allegedly stole T-Mobile's Tappy technology. The operator has requested compensation of $ 500 million but ended up receiving only $ 4.8 million in May 2017. Huawei has contested the charges.
Due to legal action, the US government is trying to stop US companies from buying Huawei routers, while urging its allies to take the same steps to prevent potential espionage and risk to national security.
It is now necessary to wait for a concrete response from Canada regarding Meng's extradition to the United States so that the next steps can be defined.
