CES 2019 | Qualcomm announces Snapdragon news for the automotive industry

During CES 2019, which takes place this week in Las Vegas, Qualcomm presented some new features for the automotive sector, including the third generation of Snapdragon Automotive Cockpit platforms. The platforms are designed with a modular architecture to encompass Artificial Intelligence experiences and bring virtual assistance from cars to another level.

Among the possibilities of the new Snapdragon platforms for the automotive sector are more natural interactions between the vehicle and the driver, in addition to applications that help increase safety during the rides.

At the chipset maker's press conference, a prototype vehicle equipped with the third generation Snapdragon Automotive Cockpit showed that immersive graphics and differentiated multimedia interactions can be achieved on ultrawide displays that create a fully futuristic dashboard inside the vehicle.

In practice, this means that drivers and passengers can talk to the virtual assistant of the car in a more natural tone when asking to play a song or find the best route to their destination. Meanwhile, rear-seat passengers can have access to a range of content, including series and movies.
