The Apple recently hired the former head of the batteries division Samsung, Soonho Ahn, to become the global head of development of batteries. The change was spotted by Bloomberg on LinkedIn's executive.
Ahn started working at Apple as early as December 2018 after spending four years at Samsung SDI, two of them as senior vice president of next generation battery and materials innovation. Its task involved not only the development of batteries for mobile devices, but also for bicycles and other electric vehicles.

Samsung SDI has even been responsible for providing batteries for iPads and MacBooks years ago. With the end of the partnership, Apple began to invest its efforts to stop depending on other companies and get the components needed to manufacture their products.
In 2018, for example, the Tim Cook company revealed that it was working on the development of custom Mac processors to replace Intel , even counting on competing former employees to build the component.
