Recently a study has been carried out showing that 20 applications, well known, for Android will be sending data to Facebook. Not only is it an unethical practice but it is still being carried out without the consent of the users.
Among the Android applications in question, we can highlight Kayak, MyFitnessPal, TripAdvisor and other. In effect, these and others are sending data ranging from the most harmless to the most personal.
Facebook is receiving insider information from popular Android applications
Among the data that is being sent we can refer information about travel, if the user has children, recent searches, among others. In addition, data such as the number of times the application was opened or the Google ID are also sent.
In addition, the Android applications in question send data the moment it opens. That is, you do not even have time to set the permissions you want to give to those applications.
Indeed, this practice is a clear violation of some privacy laws, especially in Europe. The new GDPR law requires the user to give their consent before any of their data is registered by what entity.
In addition, the SDK of Facebook itself is a cause of this problem, as reported by some programmers. According to this study, the SDK itself does not give even time to interrogate the user about their permissions. Your information is immediately logged as soon as the application opens.
Facebook has already stated that it has released an update that corrects this problem. However, programmers continue to assert that the practice described above remains in place.
According to the study, only the Android platform is being hammered by this problem. That is, if you are an iOS user you can rest assured that your personal data remains secure.
