WhatsApp - iOS app will be the first to receive ads

After the purchase of WhatsApp by Facebook, platform monetization has always been one of the most frequently asked questions.

However, Facebook is already preparing a way to introduce ads into the app, starting with iOS.

WhatsApp is, globally, one of the most widely used applications globally for communication. With about 1500 million active users, this is an application with great potential, but where Facebook still does not reap great profits, much due to the lack of an application monetization strategy.

Last week, WhatsApp founder Brian Acton revealed that by purchasing WhatsApp, Facebook would already have a plan to make money through the relationship between customers and businesses, charging for the ability to respond to messages from customers with more than 24 hours, and plans were delayed due to the encryption of the conversations.

However, according to new information, although Facebook can still implement this strategy in the future, it has now started to explore ads differently. Copying what's done in Instagram Stories, with ads coming up after 3 or 4 user stories are seen, Facebook will deploy ads in the states, although the recurrence with which it will show them is not yet known.

According to WaBetaInfo, these ads will initially be implemented in the iOS app and will later be extended to Android, with no date set for each of the phases yet.

After several years in the hands of the American giant, WhatsApp is now preparing to receive ads, something that has been subject to several criticisms from users for not respecting the original strategy of this messaging application.
