Devices that receive the stable version of MIUI 10
The upgrade thus arrives at 12 Xiaomi devices. They are
- Xiaomi 8SE
- Xiaomi MIX 2
- Xiaomi MIX
- Xiaomi 6
- Xiaomi 6X
- Xiaomi 2
- Xiaomi 5
- Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro
- Xiaomi Redmi 6
- Xiaomi Redmi 6A
- Xiaomi Redmi 5
- Xiaomi Redmi S2
The test for other devices, such as the Mi 8, the MiX 2S are not yet finished.
The stable update is being implemented by the OTA (Over-the-Air) method on the devices. Users can go directly to the settings menu. Later, they have to go to the system updates. Then check the updates manually by clicking the "Update now" button. Users who have installed the MIUI development version on their devices can also upgrade to MIUI 10.
What changes in these devices with the new MIUI 10?
Portrait mode for individual cameras
Portrait mode usually requires a dual camera setup to capture depth information and other details. However last year we began to see several software-based solutions for smartphones with just one camera and that presented very interesting results.
It is true that Xiaomi already uses portrait mode on its dual-camera phones, but one of MIUI 10's most interesting features is the emergence of a new software-based portrait mode for single camera devices. Xiaomi claims that it has trained its algorithms with more than 100,000 photos, so we expect a very good quality.
A redesigned "recent" menu
MIUI 9 marked Xiaomi's first foray into a specially adapted interface for screens with a ratio of 18: 9, for example, by adopting gestures for its full-screen smartphones. The new update continues this trend.
The new Recent menu provides a vertical list of running applications, making full use of expanded screen space. In parallel, you can also swipe apps to delete them or play on them for more options.
Notifications inspired by nature
Recalling Samsung's TouchWiz interface, Xiaomi sought nature to provide notifications and other system sounds. The company said it is using waterdrop sounds for its alerts, adding that consecutive notifications will result in different sounds.
A timer to relax
Another feature of MIUI 10 is the ability to run a timer. It incorporates sounds with themes of nature as time is counted. These themes are very varied. First, they range from the sound of forests to fire. Then you just need to relax. If you had a stressful day, maybe this timer might help.
Reduced Volume/Brightness Volumes
It is not one of the great features of the MIUI 10, but the new volume/brightness controls stand out from other smartphones.
Touching the volume buttons starts overlapping the volume setting on the right side of the screen (near the buttons). Of course, this may vary by theme and sometimes the sound indicator may appear at the top of the screen.
The two sliders also allow you to adjust the brightness/volume by sliding your finger to anywhere on the panel. It's a small but welcome adjustment.
Increased responsiveness
As Android evolved, Google struggled to improve the speed and fluidity of the platform. Xiaomi with MIUI has also made this a priority in the latest releases, and the latest version is the example.

So this company says it has implemented two new features in the Stable version of MIUI 10 to speed things up. In practice it translates into a 10% increase in performance.
