Uber wants flying cars in the next decade, says CEO

Flying cars are one of humanity's most frequent technological dreams, but they may be closer than we think - at least in Uber's plans.

Dara Khosrowshahi, the company's CEO, said in an investor forum in Tokyo that the company wants to offer an air taxi service over the next decade.

According to Khosrowshahi, UberAir would use low-altitude air carriers with vertical take-off and short distances. The idea is that demonstrations of the system already be made in 2020 in Los Angeles.

It is worth remembering that companies such as Bell HelicopterEhang and SureFly already develop vehicles of the type, which puts issues such as regulation, noise and infrastructure for landings and take-offs - which should be worked out in the coming years.
