Telegram is removed from the App Store for "inappropriate content"

CEO of the messaging app confirmed its removal from the App Store

The popular alternative to WhatsApp is off the air in Brazil, the Telegram and Telegram X messaging applications were removed from the iOS application store on Wednesday (31) because of "inappropriate content."

According to Pavel Durov, CEO of the application, content indicated by Apple would have been distributed to users by the app, which justified suspending the app.

Once we have proactive protections, we expect apps to return to the App Store," Durov said in a tweet.

Details about the inappropriate content shared by the app were not disclosed.

The Russian application has become known globally for its advanced security options, which include end-to-end encrypted and encrypted conversations - something that was not common in message applications when Telegram first suggested in 2013.
