Qualcomm announced the 700th series of processors Snapdragon

An unexpected announcement from Qualcomm at MWC 2018 in Barcelona was the presentation of the new 700th series of mobile platforms Snapdragon. Following the policy of the manufacturer, the new chipsets will take place between the flagship 800-th line and models of the middle-class 600 series. In particular, the support of most of the latest Qualcomm technologies is declared.



Mobile platforms Snapdragon 700 will receive a number of functions and technologies from the top-end solutions of the 800 series. Qualcomm announced support for fast charging Quick Charge 4, Bluetooth 5.0, custom Kryo kernels and Adreno graphics. The company also promises in the chips of the 700-th line the engine of artificial intelligence and the coprocessor of processing images Spectra, as in the flagship solutions.

Qualcomm promises to improve energy efficiency by 30% and increase productivity in comparison with Snapdragon 660. When processing tasks related to machine learning, the 700 series chips will demonstrate twice the performance of Snapdragon 660.

Chipsets 700-series will go into production before the end of this year, and the first devices based on them should wait at the end of this year or early next year.
