A group of CODEX hackers after several months of persistent attempts still managed to crack the integrated with Windows 10 protection system UWP. Up to this point, it was the most reliable DRM of all existing: it lasted under the onslaught of pirates even longer than the famous Denuvo and its equivalents.
While the group CODEX managed to crack only released in October last year, the simulator of the Zoo Tycoon Ultimate Animal Collection. According to the coders, the game had more than one protection program, as it usually does, but as many as five: MSStore, UWP, EAppX, XBLive and Arxan.
Thus, truly unbeatable gaming DRM is no more - Denuvo, for example, is circumvented in a matter of days, or even hours. It is not known how the fall of UWP will affect other exclusives of Windows 10 (Gears of War 4, Halo Wars 2 and other hits). One thing is for sure: now developers of security systems have to work harder to create more advanced and complex programs.
