On the incredible prospects for the application of graphene, it is already possible to compose legends, but it turned out that not all of its properties have been studied. The Australian research organization CSIRO has found out that with the help of graphene it is possible to purify water of any degree of pollution. The process is so effective that even water from urban canals becomes completely drinkable after cleaning.
The new filtering technology consists of using a graphene film with microscopic nanochannels that pass water, but stop harmful substances. The process is called Graphair. Specialists note that this technology is cheaper, faster and environmentally friendly than analogues.
"All we need is heat, our graphene, a membrane filter and a small water pump. We hope to begin field trials next year, "said lead author Dr Dong Han Seo.
Purification of water is usually a complex process in several stages, so this method is a breakthrough and can have a significant impact on 2.1 billion people who do not have access to clean and safe drinking water.
