Sales of Essential Phone were pretty disappointing, IDC did not hide its disappointment for this smartphone from the start-up founded by Andy Rubin. Despite being well received by enthusiasts of the Android system, its launch was not without mishaps. Now users of this device are already receiving Android Oreo 8.1.
This is the latest version of Google's operating system. After the release of version 8.0 last August, version 8.1 was released last December. This is a small iteration with bug fixes and few new features. Even so, it's good to see the builders struggling to upgrade their devices.
The announcement was made by Essential through its Twitter. From now on Android Oreo 8.1 will be available in the Beta version. In this way, the American company thus fulfills its word. It will jump directly from Nougat to Oreo in its version 8.1, thus abdicating from version 8.0.
At this point the first beta, the first build or firmware (system software) is already being distributed to users. You will arrive via OTA (over the air) to all interested parties and to those who are still using a beta version of Android Oreo 8.0.

If you have not joined the beta program you will have to download the necessary files through the brand website. Then you will have to install the system files on your Essential Phone. You'll find a guide to the entire flash process on the brand's own website. It will thus be a good leap, from the Nougat directly to the latest version of Google's operating system.
Beta Version Now Available for Essential Phone
Looking now at the official changelog, the record of changes, we can see that Essential has also added some trumps and tools to Android Oreo in its pure state. Here we have intelligent text selection, instant applications, Picture-in-Picture mode , and more.
Without forgetting the increased speed for opening applications. Higher speed for initialization of all Essential Phone. We will mainly have a major enhancement of security with the addition also February security patch . You will also have some additions made by the brand itself to the Calendar, Clock and other system application icons.
This file with Android Oreo 8.1 in its beta version is cumbersome. With 500MB you will have many new features inside so you should also have free space to install it. Note that this is a trial version, a beta version that may contain errors and instabilities. The brand has so far not provided a date for the arrival of the stable version.
