The game arrives on April 20 and has won a new trailer with MANY details about the story! We have prepared a list of various secrets and details about the video and invite you to watch the special Enemy Zone where we discuss various theories about the game.
The Old Ways
Atreus appears at the beginning of the trailer chanting an adapted version of the prayer known as The Old Ways, in honor of Odin.
Mimic
The creature that appears attached to a tree is Mímir, Norse god that represents knowledge and wisdom. He was beheaded during the Aesir-Vanir war, fought between two factions of deities, and the head stayed with Odin. Based on previous trailers of God of War, many theories already suggested that Mímir was in the game, since Kratos carries in the waist his head. The item, apparently, serves to give clues about elements of the scenario.
Dís
A short excerpt from the video shows Kratos and Atreus opening a door and encountering curious figures with delicate features covered in white cloths. They seem to refer to Dís, a kind of spirit associated with fate and fertility.
The essence of Kratos and the Blades of Athena
One of the conflicts of the story revealed by the trailer talks about the origins of Atreus. Apparently, as a son of Kratos, he shows a certain inclination to violence and revenge. Another reference to this' call to origins' is the scene in which the bandages in Kratos' arms appear to be unraveling. They cover up the Blades of Athena chains, the traditional blades attached to chains that served as weapons in previous games.
Giant Creatures
At the end of the trailer, Atreus asks his father if he can kill a monster as big as what they face at the moment. Who has played the past episodes knows that Kratos is adept at facing - and defeating - figures much larger than them, such as the hydra of the first God of War, the Colossus of Rhodes at the beginning of the second episode and his own grandfather, Cronos, in the third game By the way, it is possible that the creature is Nidhogg, important dragon in the Norse mythology that lives in the roots of the Yggdrasil tree.
