EA may bring loot boxes back to Star Wars: Battlefront II, newspaper says

The company's executive suggested that a controversial system of micro-transactions can return to the game.

May the Force be with us all: after a break in the system caused by the great revolt of the player's community, Electronic Arts may be planning to return loot boxes to Star Wars: Battlefront II.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, the controversial micro-transaction system may come back "in the coming months." The information was confirmed for publication by Blake Jorgensen, the chief financial officer of EA. " We will do it when we think [the micro-transactional system] is ready, " he said.

The loot boxes were removed from the game shortly before its official launch after a series of complaints from beta players about the system that encouraged micro-transactions to gain in-game advantages.

According to Jorgensen, the controversy was one reason EA sold only 9 million copies of the game, down from its conservative $ 10 million estimates for the end of last year.
