How to prepare for macOS High Sierra installation

The latest version of the OS for Mac - MacOS High Sierra, but before you install it, it does not hurt to prepare for the update.

We'll look at some simple steps that should be taken before installing macOS High Sierra.

Install macOS High Sierra now or wait?

Many users tend not to install macOS High Sierra immediately after its release. Most people immediately begin to download and install updates, but some prefer to wait. It all depends on your preferences. If your Mac is working fine, then take the time to install the update no reason.

Installation advantage immediately after the release is that you get access to new features macOS High Sierra.

And wait for the installation costs, since various errors can occur in the process. Problems with updating the system can lead to problems in its future work. If you then do not have time you have to try to correct any errors or restore the system, it is best to wait at least a few hours or days.

Some Mac users prefer to wait for the next version of the system in which all the bugs have to be fixed. In our case, these versions will macOS High Sierra 10.13.1, 10.13.2, 10.13.3, etc. This is the safest approach, as in the major OS upgrade is always a minor problem, but in future versions, they fix.

The number of compatible devices includes almost all Mac, MacBook Pro, and iMac, released in 2010 and later, as well as some iMac and MacBook the end of 2009. A full list of supported devices can be found here.

In addition, your Mac must have at least 10GB of free memory.

Make a backup of your Mac

The most important part of the preparation for upgrading is Create a backup. Problems installing updates are rare, but still, they do, then the only solution is to restore your computer from a backup.

The lack of backup will result in data loss and the entire contents of your computer.

You can make a copy in any way, but we recommend that you use Time Machine program because it is easy to set up, easy to operate, and it can automatically create copies. You will need an external storage device.

All done? Download and install the High Sierra

If you are ready to install macOS 10.13, you can download the update now through the Mac App Store. When the installer downloads, it will open automatically, and you can install the update. The installation process should go fine, but if the error still occurs - you can easily recover from a backup.
