It will surprise you that some significant percentage Note 7 user has not returned their back. Hence, Samsung has decided to brick all the remaining Galaxy Note 7s.

Samsung To Brick Remaining Galaxy Note 7

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is Samsung worst nightmare to fix the Note 7 problem the launched a replacement program to replace the faulty one the called "Safe" one got issues too, Samsung went far as giving $100 to encourage users to return their device.

However, there is still a significant number of Galaxy Note 7 users who are quite happy with their device and are yet to replaced their phone. As announced by Samsung few days ago that “approzimately 85% of the recalled Galaxy Note 7 devices” have been swapped out as part of the refund program or been exchanged with another Samsung handset.

It simply means that still, people are using the faulty Samsung Galaxy Note 7. For those users, the south Korean giant Samsung has just introduced the two-pronged plan. The first plan is to release a software update that will prevent the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 from charging beyond 60% this is to prevent overheating.

But, hold on what if I say you all that if you are still carrying around a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 then you should return it as soon as possible? Now you all might be thinking that why I am saying this again right. As the South Korean giant Samsung has recently stated that soon it will release a software update through which it will simply disable or brick all the active Galaxy Note 7.

It means that after this update Galaxy Note 7 users will not have any choice. Of course, the phone will essentially be worthless. Here’s what the South Korean giant stated:-

“Consumer safety remains our highest priority and we’ve had overwhelming participation in the U.S. Note7 Refund and Exchange Program so far, with more than 93 percent of all recalled Galaxy Note7 devices returned.

To further increase participation, a software update will be released starting on December 19th and will be distributed within 30 days. This software update will prevent U.S. Galaxy Note 7 devices from charging and will eliminate their ability to work as mobile devices. Together with our carrier partners, we will be notifying consumers through multiple touchpoints to encourage any remaining Galaxy Note7 owners to participate in the program and to take advantage of the financial incentives available.

We advice to those who has not yet returned their Note 7 should please switch it off and contact their carrier to obtain a refund or exchange, or visit our website at Samsung.com/us/note7recall for more information”.

However, Verizon will not be passing them to Galaxy Note 7’s on its network because of the Christmas season.  Below is the statement from them

“Verizon will not be taking part in this update because of the added risk this could pose to Galaxy Note 7 users that do not have another device to switch to.

We will not push a software upgrade that will eliminate the ability for the Note 7 to work as a mobile device in the heart of the holiday travel season. We do not want to make it impossible to contact family, first responders or medical professionals in an emergency situation”.
