How To Unlock Fingerprint Sensor On US Sony Xperia XZ


Sony’s Xperia XZ and X Compact was just  launched in the US earlier this week  which came with an odd change for the American version, Sony purposely omitted the
fingerprint sensor that is available on the otherwise identical variants
of the phones in other regions as "A BUSINESS DECISION" he fingerprint sensor hardware is in the device but disabled due to a
patent by HP since they own the patent of having a fingerprint sensor on
the side with the power button. worry not we got a method to unlock the Fingerprint Sensor On US Sony Xperia.






The Fingerprint Sensor function has been locked behind firmware
limitations, preventing it from working. To
activate the sensor, all you need to do is flash the phones with
firmware from another region where Sony has decided to allow the sensor. Below is how you flash the Firmware

How To Flash Unlock Fingerprint Sensor Firmware On US Sony Xperia XZ
1. Download Flash



2. Download drivers for your Sony Xperia Sony PC Companion.
Make sure you connect your Xperia to the PC before starting the
process to download the necessary USB and ADB drivers. The best way to
do this is to power off your Sony Xperia and then connect to your PC
whilst holding the volume down button.

3. Enable “USB debugging” and “Unknown sources” on your Sony Xperia device


‘USB debugging’: Settings > Developer options

‘Unknown sources’: Settings > Security

4. Download the Firmware and Create FTF
The new version has built-in Xperifirm for downloading of Sony Xperia firmware after downloading the firmware Press XF button (right of + button, left of PayPal donate button) and it will create FTF automatically.




To ensure the FTF firmware file has been created, navigate to the following location on your PC: “C:Users[Your PC Name].flashToolfirmwares”

5. Flash Your Firmware 
This section details the steps needed in order to flash new firmware onto your Sony Xperia device.

First of all, open Flashtool and then click on the lightning bolt in the top left of Flashtool as highlighted below.

Select “Flashmode” and click “OK”.

You should already be in the source folder where the FTF firmware
files are located. If not, navigate to: “C:Users[Your PC
Name].flashToolfirmwares”


Select the firmware build version that you want to flash from the
“Firmware” pane. Ensure the device variant is the same as the model
number of your Sony Xperia device.

I flashed the Nordic Combined so that it will not wise you file


Click “Flash”. Flashtool will then indicate that it is “preparing files for flashing”.

Flashtool will then start flashing your Xperia device.

Once you see “Flashing finished” as indicated below, your Sony Xperia has been successfully flashed.

Congratulations you have just flash the unlocked Finger Sensor!
Now disconnect your Xperia device and power on the handset. Don’t worry
if it takes a while for the handset to boot, this is to be expected.

whatever the reasoning may be for them to putting this limitation, it's nice to know
that US-based Xperia XZ and X Compact owners now at least have an
unofficial option to enable the feature.
